We can help you:

  • Disability Navigator - The goal of the program is to assist individuals with disabilities in navigating the complex provisions of the various programs that impact their ability to gain, retain or return to employment. Navigators can act as “walking rolodexes” making referrals for customers with disabilities.  For more information on this program click here.

  • Finding Your Next Job – covers basics of job search, such as using Employment Dept. resources, keeping a job search log; the “hidden” job market, developing a network, informational interviews, job shadowing.
  • Effective Applications – covers how to successfully fill out job applications so that employers will notice them, including gaps in work history, background issues, and unrelated work history.
  • Switching Occupations – covers Career Information System’s Skills Assessment, researching a new career field; introduces online resources, including OLMIS and CIS. This workshop requires basic computer skills.
  • Resume 1 – covers basic elements of targeted combination resume; development of personal work history; use of Ben Franklin Balance Sheet to document qualifications for each job; principles of effectively marketing your skills to employers.
  • Resume 2 – applies information from Resume 1 to produce targeted combination resume based on actual job ad; hands on; pre-requisite Resume 1. This workshop requires basic computer skills.
  • Cover Letters – includes basics of cover letters using information developed from Resume1. Pre-requisite for this class is Resume 1.
  • Interviewing 1 – covers basics of preparing for interview, including research into company, time management, materials to take, how to dress, predictable questions, tough questions, illegal/awkward/off-the-wall questions, references, thank you notes.
  • Interviewing 2 – participates will practice interviewing; feedback will be given to allow for improvement. Must attend Interviewing 1 workshop first.
  • Job Search Networking - Different emphasis each week to learn/practice strategies to improve job search techniques; agenda is partly determined by participants.
  • Dealing with Background Issues – How to present convictions, strategies for employment, building networks, increasing self-esteem.
  • Job Corps Orientation – A brief overview of the entire Job Corps program; including various Job Corps center locations, different vocational training programs offered and job outlook information for various trades as well as benefits received by students. In addition, eligibility requirements and “how to apply” will be covered and appointments made for anyone interested in applying for the Job Corps program.
  • Youth Employment Lab –Open entry, no appointment necessary; for youth 14 to 21. Assistance with job search, job leads, interviewing skills, increasing employability rate. All youth will be screened for extended C-TEC Youth Services.
