
THE GED PROCESS AT THE TESTING CENTER 
Clackamas Community College is a certified GED testing site. The Testing Center offers the official exams that lead to a GED certificate. The Testing Center is not involved in any preparation or practice tests. For more information on GED preparation, please contact the Dye Learning Center at

Fee: $100.00, retest $15.00
GED Testing Schedule
By Appointment (503)657-6958 ext. 2269 The GED consists of 5 timed tests. You may take the tests in whichever order you choose. Tests are given by appointment only, and you may take more than one test on a given day.
Language Arts, Reading 40 questions 1 hr & 5 mins
Language Arts, Writing 50 questions & 1 essay 2 hrs & 5 mins
Mathematics 50 questions 1 hr & 40 mins
Social Studies 50 questions 1 hr & 10 mins
Science 50 questions 1 hr & 20 mins
Scores
Scores range from 200-800 with a score of 500 representing the average performance of graduating high school seniors. You must receive a minimum score of 410 on each test AND an average of 450 on all five tests. Candidates with an average score of 650 or better will receive “honors.” Honors recipients will have a seal on their certificate and will be qualified to compete for scholarships in the state of Oregon.
Retaking Tests
You are allowed to retake a particular test if:
- You fail a test
- You have completed all of your tests and your average score is below 450.
- If the military or other instituion requires that you have a higher score.
You may retake any one test twice in one calendar year. If, for example, you do not pass a reading test the first time you take it, you may retake the test two more times in a calendar year. You must pay an additional $15 fee per retake.
Fees
- $100.00 (covers all 5 tests and the state fee).
- $15.00 per test retake fee (only if you need to retake a test).
- If you have not finished your GED within 3 years of your first test date, you must renew your $25 state fee in order to continue testing.
Check Your Scores Online
The first time you test you will be given a paper with a web address and an access code. You can visit this web address and use your access code to check your scores online. If you do not have internet access at home, you are welcome to use computers in the main lobby of the Roger Rook Building in the Oregon City Campus. If you misplace your access code, you can come into the Testing Center with photo ID and we can retrieve your information for you. Test scores are valid until the next test series is published in 2011.
Scores are generally available online 24 hours after you test, with the exception of writing scores which take about 2 weeks to process.

GED REGISTRATION
Once you are ready to earn your GED, you must attend a registration session at the Testing Center before you can begin to test. Registration sessions are held in the Testing Center, Rook 136, and generally take an hour to complete. An appointment is not required, however call the Testing Center or check our online schedule for the most current registration dates/times.
Important Registration Information:
- Arrive early—we cannot start registering anyone who arrives late. Remember that parking is free, but can sometimes be difficult to find.

You need to pay your $100 fee at the Cashiers Office in the 1st floor lobby of the Roger Rook building before the registration session.

Required Documents & Information

- Current government issued photo ID such as: curent passport, Drivers' License, DMV ID Card.
- Know your Social Security Number
- If you are 16 or 17 years of age: Exemption from compulsory attendance (original) OR an Oregon Options Letter (original) and Options Form Bubble Sheet from your high school.
- If you are 18 AND
enrolled in an accredited public high school or alternative school, you will need the same forms as a 16 or 17 year old (see #4).
GED TESTING
After you have registered, you are ready to schedule and take your tests. You are welcome to schedule appointments by calling the Testing Center at 503-657-6958 x2269. For our most current testing schedule, call the Testing Center or check our calendar.
Important Testing Information
- Arrive early
- Always bring ID
- Avoid bringing any unnecessary bags/articles of clothing. All coats/sweaters/hats/food ect. will have to be left outside of the testing room.
- After you take your first test you will be given a web address and an access code that will allow you to view your scores online. (If you lose this information, just come in with photo ID and we will get you a copy.) Scores (with the exception of writing scores) are generally available online 24 hours after you test. Writing scores usually take about 2 weeks to process.
EARN YOUR GED!
After you pass all five of your tests, a transcript of your scores will be mailed to you. Approximately two weeks after finishing your last test, you will also receive an official certificate from the state GED office. If you need additional copies of your certificate or transcript, you can print out a request form from our website and send it to the state GED office.
When you complete your GED, you will also be invited participate in the cap and gown graduation ceremony held each year in June. Please keep us updated on your most current mailing address so that we can formally invite you to the ceremony and keep you updated on important GED information.
