May I enroll as a part-time student?
Yes, many of our students begin as part-time students. Contact the Horticulture
Advisor, Elizabeth Howley, to discuss classes that are most suitable for you
to start off with.
What prerequisites are there for Horticulture classes?
See the CCC Catalog for current information. Horticulture students are advised
to take their Placement Tests at the Testing Center.
How do I find out if my credits from other colleges will
transfer to Clackamas Community College?
Fill out a Transfer Credit Evaluation form, at the Registrars office
in Roger Rook Hall.
Where is the Horticulture Department located?
We are located in the Horticulture Center, in Clairmont Hall.
What facilities does the Horticulture Department have?
Five acres of grounds immediately surrounding Clairmont Hall are used as a
Land Laboratory for many different Horticulture classes. Gardens include a
Rhododendron garden, an Herbaceous Perennial garden, an Herb garden, an All-American
display garden, and an Annuals garden. The Horticulture Department includes
production 2 greenhouses, a shade house, a hoop house, collection of industry
standard equipment used in landscaping and for nursery work, a container nursery,
a field yard, a computer laboratory with many different horticulture software
programs, and a resource room with books, magazines and internet connected
computers for access to a wide variety of horticulture information.

Where can I find information about upcoming horticulture
workshops?
All Horticulture Department sponsored or cosponsored workshops are listed
in the Schedule of Classes
for the term in which they are occurring. Additionally, the Horticulture Department
produces a 3-4-page class promotional that is available 4-6 weeks prior to
the start of the upcoming term. This lists all classes and workshops, times,
locations, instructors and a brief description of the contact of the class
or workshop. To request a copy of the class promotional, contact Horticulture

What pesticide use training classes do you offer?
HOR132, Pesticide Selection & Use is a full term course offered both
winter and spring quarters to help prepare one to take the Oregon Department
of Agriculture pesticide licensing exams. Additionally pesticide core training
workshops are held during the fall and winter terms.
Where and when may I take the Oregon Department of Agriculture
pesticide licensing examinations?
Currently, the Testing Center at Clackamas Community College offers the ODA pesticide
licensing exams on Wednesdays only. Phone the testing
center at 503-657-6958 ext. 2269 to arrange an appointment. As of November
1st, 2002, the Dept. of Agriculture began collecting a $15 fee for each
pesticide exam. Before testing, go to the cashier's office in Roger Rook
Hall and pay the fee. Make sure your name is on the receipt,
and bring it with you to the Testing Center, also in Roger Rook Hall. Also bring along your photo
identification.
Do you offer classes or workshops that earn Oregon Department
of Agriculture pesticide license re-certification credits or
re-certification
credits for arborists certified by the International Society of Arboriculture.?
ODA
pesticide re-certification credits are currently available for HOR235, HOR236, and HOR237 (Weed ID, Insect/Mite ID and Disease ID respectively). Certified
arborists may submit to the national ISA transcripts from classes whose content
includes areas relevant to upgrading the skills of practicing arborists.

How can I post a job opening for Horticulture students?
All job listings are posted on the bulletin board immediately outside of the
Horticulture Resource Room, Clairmont Hall C-120. To post a listing, fax it
to 503-650-6662, Attn: Loretta or leave the posting with Loretta in
Clairmont Hall C-120.
Are there scholarships and/or financial aid available?
Several scholarships are exclusively available to CCC Horticulture students.
To find out about these and all scholarships, visit the Financial Aid office,
which is located in the Roger Rook Hall.
