If
you’re looking for a career with a future, Discover Clackamas Community
College’s unique High-Purity Water Production Certificate in the Water
& Environmental Technology ProgramCareers in the high-tech industry don’t always
include wearing a "bunny" suit. Clackamas Community College, Intel
Corporation, Siltronics, LSI and other industry giants have joined forces to
develop the High-Purity Water Production Certificate in our Water & Environmental
Technology Program. The CCC program is the only one of its kind west of the
Mississippi River, and HPW technicians are needed in the semiconductor industry
across the country.
You’ll work with other engineers and technicians in a team environment monitoring HPW production in both an office setting and in high-tech, clean industrial facilities. HPW water starts as city water, then is treated using reverse osmosis (RO) and deionization (DI). When the purification process is completed, the water is 1,000 to 1,000,000 times purer than tap water.
Who
will hire me?Most of our graduates pursue jobs as technicians and facilities engineers in
the high-tech semiconductor industry where high purity water is used to manufacture
silicon wafers and related computer components. High-tech industry jobs may
include a wide range of employee benefits including generous support for further
education, annual pay bonuses and stock options.
The
High-Purity Water Production Certificate is awarded to a student that completes
a minimum of 17 college credit hours specific to the HPW program.

The
High-Purity Water Certificate in the W&ET program at CCC was developed with
the support of Intel to meet industry needs for technicians. Intel and other
electronic manufacturers support the program in a number of important ways.
Work Study: Enrolled W&ET students who complete two consecutive HPW classes are eligible for work-study positions in the hi-tech electronic industries.
Job shadow: Students gain on-the-job experience while earning college credit “shadowing” HPW engineers and technicians.
If you’re ambitious and looking for a career in a challenging, exciting field, call the Water & Environmental Technology program at Clackamas Community College. The CCC staff is ready to discuss the HPW Option as well as other options in water management. Call 503-594-3345 for more information.
