Born and raised in Portland, Ryan traveled through 47 states before realizing Oregon will always be home. He has taught everything from journalism to composition to literature at an international high school and English language schools in Japan and at community colleges and universities in Mississippi, Maine, Washington, and Oregon. In his free time, he enjoys exploring Portland's architecture, unearthing Oregon's history, and spending time with his family. He is co-founder and technical director of Portland World Theatre and editor of Clackamas Literary Review.
