I love to tell students that journalism is so important, the job is written into the First Amendment. I've been a journalism instructor and newspaper adviser at Clackamas Community College since 2007. As a journalist, I've written for newspapers, magazines and the Web for more than ten years, including as a staff writer for The Oregonian and The Arizona Republic, covering everything from education to the outdoors. As a freelance writer, I've written about Oregon's coolest small towns and the biggest, tallest smallest sites in America in a book called Superlatives USA.
