bio:
Andy Mingo is a filmmaker based out of Portland, Oregon. He has written, directed and produced six short films that have appeared in various national festivals and screenings including the Longbaugh Film Festival, the Northwest Film and Video Festival, the PDX Film Festival, and Northwest Tracking- Journal of Short Film V.11, and has recently finished his first feature length film, ‘The Iconographer’.
In the late 90s, Andy worked with RTMark to produce the rogue web-art site, microsoftedu.com, a satirical indictment of corporate influence on educational curriculum.
He is also the author of four feature-length screenplays and two corresponding novels (East Elko and Dead Mountain Echo). His fiction has appeared in Black Ice, two girls review, Art:Mag, and elsewhere.
Coming from a literary background, Andy co-founded the award winning Chiasmus Press in 2002, where he co-edited the Northwest Edge anthologies. While working as a guest editor at Fiction International, he compiled writing from within the Earth First! movement. As a journalist and editor of the Dead Mountain Echo, the Oakridge, Oregon weekly, he covered the Warner Creek Road Occupation in 1996.
Andy is the coordinator for the Digital Media Program at Clackamas Community College, where he teaches digital filmmaking. He is also currently at work on another novel/screenplay, ‘The Geography of Rapture’.
