Marylhurst Writing Contest Winners

CCC literature and creative writing students made another strong showing in Marylhurst University's writing contest. 2005 winners included:

Literary Analysis
Mary Moss, "The Alteration of God's 'Word' in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust" (1st place)
Angela K. Jensen, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: A Valuable Companion" (3rd place)

Fiction
Sean Casey, "The Kiss" (3rd place)

Poetry
Linda Knowlton Appel, "Lewis and Clark on the Columbia River" (2nd place)
Samantha Cox, "Discourse on Showering" (3rd place)
Margaret V. Doran, "My Bed" (honorable mention)

Congratulations to my old student, Mary Moss, for another fine piece of work. Mary was all over the first few issues of the Banyan (so much so that the editors joked about renaming it the Mary Moss Quarterly!).

Mary, you represent the best in academic writing. Here's wishing you continuing good luck, and you know all of us will be watching for your name in the future.
