Basic Speech Communication |
Explores interpersonal and small group dynamics and communication skills in day-to-day formal and informal situations. Examines positive self-concept, listening skills, and clarity of expression. Designed for non-transfer students. |

Listening |
This course analyzes listening behavior. In addition, this course emphasizes developing an understanding and appreciation of listening as a vital element in the communication process. Course includes theory and individual skill development. |

Public Speaking |
This course is designed to teach students the essential steps in preparing and delivering oral messages. All methods of instruction in this course are intended to foster, practice, and improve the student's public speaking ability. Through reading, listening, written work, discussion, recall (exams), brainstorming, research, reflection, and performance, students will be taught how to prepare and deliver several speeches. The end goal of class activities is to equip students with public speaking skills they may use in all walks of life. |

Communication Between the Sexes |
The main emphasis of this course is not to explain the causality of the differences between men and women but to enhance students' understanding of the factors and issues involved in creating, developing and maintaining sex-role stereotypes. The class will discuss how women and men communicate and how these communication patterns affect all facets of life by examining how women and men are different and similar in their communication behaviors. Traditional, social, biological and psychological perspectives will be discussed as well as myths, and current issues involving achieved gender. |

Parliamentary Procedure |
This course will examine the principles and practices of parliamentary procedure to develop skills in argumentation, conflict resolution, and perspective taking on both sides of an issue. |

Nonverbal Communication |
Explores theories and types of nonverbal behavior in relation to the communication process. Examines the influence, interpretation, and/or management of such qualities as appearance, body movement, facial expression, voice, use of space, touch, and time. Also considers nonverbal communication in relation to physical environments, social roles, gender, and culture. |
