Career Development Facilitator
Meet the Instructor
Hello! My name is Rob Seemann and I appreciate your
interest in this class and me. I have a master's degree in social work with a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology. I also am a Career Development Facilitator Instructor (CDFI) with the National Career Development Association (NCDA).
How I can assist you
My experiences in school and work taught me to never wholly rely on other people to create a career and make decisions for me.
As a young student I made it a habit to consult with nearly every advisor of every academic discipline to ask them the question: How do you know if a career choice is right for you?
Unless you have the option of spending your lifetime trying every single career option, you must find alternative ways to learn about yourself, the world of work, and how you fit in with that world. That's what this class facilitates: Learning more about yourself so you can make good, informed decisions.
While college has proven useful for me, I know that it is not always the answer. Sometimes simply repackaging our existing skills in response to current labor markets is all that is necessary for changing a career.
My philosophy about career decisions is focused by the present. What you know about yourself now and how you feel now, combined with good information about the world of work, determines what you will and won't do to reach your goals.
So, thanks for your interest in this class and me. I hope I can get to know you better. Please e-mail me about yourself and why you are taking or considering this class.
