2008 SEASON RECAP

Cougars end another great season with more hardware
Ladies claim fourth place in 29-team NWAACC

2007 Cougars 25-23 7th Place at NWAACC

The Cougars (41-15) capped off a highly successful season at the NWAACC Volleyball Championships with a 4th place finish against some of the toughest competition in recent years.

This was the most exciting and even NWAACC Championship in my 28 years of coaching at this level," said Coach Kathie Woods.   "All of the teams were good and every match was exciting for both the athletes and the fans."

Clackamas opened the tournament with an exciting nail biting 3-2 win over Highline. They then found themselves on the wrong end of another thriller against eventual tournament runner-up Walla Walla in a 3-2 loss which put them in the 'one-loss' side of the double-elimination bracket [view bracket]

In the next match, they sent Linn-Benton home in a 2-1 win, then Bellevue 2-1 and finally Green River in a 2-0 win.

Next up - Walla Walla, who was eventually knocked down to the one-loss side of the bracket. The Warriors got the job done in a 2-0 win to end the Cougars hopes for a third NWAACC title.

"We played well and we played hard the entire tournament," added Woods "To come out 4th place this year in the NWAACC is amazing.  We were ranked in the top four the entire year and we proved that this was right with our finish."

Middle blocker Kristel Baeckel (Sam Barlow HS) was named to the Tournament All-Star team.
