Keoni McHoneKeoni McHone - Head Coach

This is the start of Coach McHone’s seventh year as Head Cross Country Coach at Clackamas and ninth year of collegiate coaching. He has had a successful career with 3 NWAACC Champions and 9 All-Americans. The women’s program has finished first two times under Coach McHone, second place one time and one third place finish at the NWAACC Championships. The men have finished second two times and third three times under McHone. In the Southern Region, the women have finished first three years and second one year since 2001. The men have finished first two times and second four years since 2001. His fastest female has run 18:09 for 5k and fastest male has run 24:49 for 8k. He also coached John Butkey who has run the fastest NWAACC Championship time in history. Coach McHone is a two-time NWAACC Coach of the Year and five-time Southern Region Coach of the Year.

Coach McHone is also in his second year as the Head Track and Field Coach after being an assistant for six years at Clackamas. He has coached many athletes on the top ten list including five school records.

Coach McHone got his start coaching the sprints and relays at Western Oregon University (1998 and 1999) where his athletes broke into many of the top ten lists and also set multiple indoor and outdoor relay records. He learned a great deal from John Knight who was inducted into the NAIA Coaching Hall of Fame. Keoni coached many NAIA All-Americans in his two years at WOU before he came to Clackamas. Coach McHone also earned his Masters degree when he was 23 years old where he accomplished his masters thesis study on unilateral versus bilateral squat training and its effects on vertical jumping and sprinting. Keoni still trains hard and can still break into the top 20 nationally for his age group.

Ian SchroederIan Schroeder - Assistant Coach

Ian’s coaching career started in the fall of 2002 at La Grande High School during his red-shirt season at Eastern Oregon University. Ian was the head Cross Country Coach and helped guide the men’s team to a first place finish in the Greater Oregon District and the women’s team to a second place finish qualifying both teams for the 3A Oregon State Cross Country Championship Meet at Lane Community College. This was the first time in school history the women’s program made it to the state meet and only the second time for the men. The men placed 9 th and the women 14 th, while two men and one woman received All-State honors. Since then Ian has been the Assistant Cross Country coach with the very successful Eastern Oregon University program in the Fall of 2005 and volunteered his time to help out with Rex Putnam’s Cross Country team for the 2006 season and was in charge of the varsity men distance runners during 2007 track season. Ian has also organized and directed youth track camps through the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation department in 2000 and 2001.

Before his coaching career Ian ran for Rex Putnam High School where he competed at six state meets between Cross Country and Track. He then continued his running career at Eastern Oregon University where the Cross Country team finished in the top ten for the NAIA national championships all four seasons he competed for the Mountaineers. For EOU Ian was a 5-time Academic All-American, 2004 NAIA Cross Country All-American, and a 2005 NAIA indoor 1,000 meter All-American. Ian was also a scorer for the Mountaineers outdoor national squad in the 1,500 meters for the 2003 and 2005 season.

Currently Ian is substitute teaching and working at Fit Right Northwest, a running specialty store in Portland and Vancouver.

Kevin ArizoKevin Arizo :: Athletic Trainer

Kevin graduated from Pacific University 2003 with an Exercise Science major with an emphasis in Sports Medicine. Upon graduation, Kevin took on several trainer roles in the metro area.  He was an assistant trainer with the Portland Timbers during the 2003-05 seasons and in 2006 he became the head athletic trainer for the club. He has also worked for North Lake Physical Therapy clinic in Lake Oswego as an athletic trainer since 2003 and and for Lake Oswego High School as the school's trainer.
