Facility Upgrades
We are moving forward in our plan to improve our facility. We have completed the new batting cages that we have needed for so long. The facility looks better than ever, come see us play on it. Our new weight room , training room, and other newly remodeled facilities are top level.
2012 Outlook
We return 17 players from the 2011 team, including 11 Pitchers. We are strong up the middle with Ryan Abel (C), Austin Kiefer (2B), Tyler Arnold (SS), and Derek Atkinson (CF). Abel is a tremendous defensive catcher and handles pitchers very well. Middle infield is deep with two outstanding defenders in Arnold & Kiefer. Kiefer will hit lead off, and he can really run. Arnold will hit two with great bat control, and Atkinson hits three with power and speed.
Other key defensive players include: Ty Harper, a big strong outfielder that will start in right field because of his arm strength. Cole Rise is a utility guy that will start in left, 1B, and possibly catch a game or two. Quin Walker will play at 3B and some at 1B.
Cody Ching returns as the team captain and an outstanding lefty pitcher. From the Left handed pitching we also return; Dante Baldocchi, Jordan Cameron, Ben Pharis, and David Rasmussen. Right handed pitchers include: Jake Buchanan, Brennon Mossholder, Josh Burbery, Jordan Anderson, and sore arm guys - Jake Atchley and Sean Moran. Lyle Reiner is a transfer sophomore that will get lots of innings.
New pitchers that show potential are - Colton Wright (Canby HS), Jonathon Janis (Easy Valley HS, Yakima, WA), Richie McCarter (Utah) and Blain Dudley (Springfield HS).
Key position players that are new include: Scott Myers (3B, Utah), Thomas McFadden (C, Warrenton), Shane Green (1B/3B, Kentwood HS, Wa.) and Josh Dixon (SS, Tualatin HS).
We have had a good fall, and expect to have a great developmental winter. We will be competitive in the spring.
Cougar Baseball is known for the three consistencies:
Academic Success . Our players do well in the classrooms. We have a high number of players that receive their AAOT degree.- Grooming athletes. Most of our players achieve their educational pursuits while attending Clackamas and move on to 4yr schools - many will continue to play baseball & some will do it on scholarship. We consider CCC as a great stepping stone to opportunities at the next level.
- Catchers in our program have had GREAT success. Clackamas is well known for the all-league/all-NWAACC catchers it has produced. Catchers that have moved on and up in recent years include: J. Hubbard AAA pros; A. Ortmayer AA pros; Steve Geisler Western Oregon U. ; and most recently, Mike McNally who achieved all-region honors in 2005, Ben Janal in 2006 & 2007 and Brenden Landwehr in 2009.
