2008 Cougars collect fourth Southern Region Title
The 2008 Cougars faced some of the strongest competition in the program's history. The inter-region (league) play combined the NWAACC's South & East regions in '08, a year in which five of the top eight squads in the final coaches' poll were members of the two regions.
The Cougars finished the regular season with a region title and a top four ranking in the final coaches poll.
In post season play, they defeated Whatcom Community College in the 2nd round of the playoffs to earn a berth to the final four in Tukwila, WA. Plagued by injuries to several key players, including South Region MVP Rachele Kliewer and keeper Chelsea Gray, the Cougars could not play up to expectations at Tukwila and lost both matches at the finals.
Four Cougars were named to the South Region All-Star Team: Rachelle Kliewer (SO), forward, Tualatin HS (Region MVP); Patti Degerness (SO), midfielder, Franklin HS; Dani Lichty (FR), midfielder, Hood River Valley HS; and Tarra McCarthy (SO), defender, Milwaukie HS.
Head Coach Tracy Nelson was named Southern Region Coach of the Year, her third such honor since beginning the Clackamas program in 2002.

They have tremendous character as a team and we are returning 11 players and I am very optimistic that we will be back in the championship game in 2009."
