OREGON CITY -- The Cougars got off to a great start in region play this week with a convincing 10-0 win over Wenatchee Valley on Saturday and a 2-1 win over Yakima Valley Thursday. The two wins, on the heels of a draw and a loss at the NWAACC Friendies Tournament, improves the CCC's record to 2-0-0 in region play and 2-1-1 overall.
The Wenatchee (0-1-1, 1-3-1) game was highlighted by three Cougars pulling off hat tricks in the victory. CCC had ball control advantage much of the opening minutes, but Yakima's Adrianna Jones found herself in a one on one with Wilkinson and slipped the ball past her for the game's opening goal in the fifth minute. CCC continued to hold most of the ball possession and finally hit pay dirt when Tinoco fed a beautiful pass from the right side to Courtney Johnson up the middle. Johnson one touched it pass the Yak keeper to knot the contest at 1-1 with 30 seconds remaining in the half.

With ten freshman and only three sophomores, we have a fairly new squad and they are still getting to know each other and making adjustments."
CCC sits atop of the Southern Region standings with a pair of region wins and six points while the rest of the South is still looking for their first region win [standings].
The Cougars will host the Columbia Basin Hawks (1-0-0, 3-0-0) Friday at Oregon City HS Pioneer Stadium [map]. Game time is set for a 1pm kickoff. The Hawks are traditionally one of the best teams in the league and should provide CCC with one of their toughest challenges of the season [schedule].
