Oregon City - Clackamas is holding the top spot in the South along with Mt. Hood who holds an identical league and overall record of 21-4, 21-11.
The Cougar defense behind pitchers Bryan Roby and Nate Reif held the Southwestern Oregon Lakers scoreless on the day. Game one ended two innings early as the Clackamas offense won the game on the league's ten run rule 10-0 on Roby's four-hit shutout.
Reif got a bit less run support in the second of the twin bill, but held the Lakers to only three hits for the Cougars second shutout 3-0.
Mt. Hood also swept Lane 8-1 and 9-6 to remain in a tie with the Cougars for first place. Third place Linn-Benton (10-6, 20-12) split with fourth place Chemeketa (9-7, 18-15) to hold steady in those spots.
The Cougars will play Concordia University at 1pm tomorrow in a recent non-league scheduling arrangement.

Oregon City - For the second time this season the Cougars have defeated perennially tough South Region Mt. Hood in a two game series. Clackamas last swept the Saints on April 10th 13-10 and 8-5.
It took eleven innings to decide game one as both squads were knotted at one run apiece after nine. Mt Hood jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first off a home run given up by Russ Lende. The Cougars tied the game in the sixth when Bryan Roby singled, stole second and the then scored on a Cam Childress double.
Lende pitched eight superb innings allowing six hits and striking out four.
Reliever Kyle Burright took the mound in the ninth and held the Saints to a single hit until the eleventh when Bill West shut the door on the Mt Hood bats to earn his first win of the season.
Clackamas manufactured the final run when Ben Janal singled, AJ Christensen sac bunt Janal to second and Roby nailed a double to score Janal.
The Cougars had a big first inning in game two when Todd McBride opened the inning with a double then Jason Anderson got on base due to a throwing error. Christensen flied-out to center field scoring McBride and Anderson scored off a Roby single to put the Cougars up 2-0.
The Saints evened it up 2-2 in the top of the second then took the lead in the top of the third with another run. Clackamas answered in the bottom of the inning when Janal doubled to drive in McBride and Anderson to make it a 4-3 contest. The Cougars added another run in the fifth and Mt. Hood couldn't find an answer for starter Bryan Roby as Clackamas took game two 5-3.
Roby held the Saint batters a bay on an eight-hit, three strikeout complete game performance to earn his fifth straight win of the season.
In other region pay, Linn-Benton (8-2, 18-8) won a pair of games over Lane (5-3 & 7-1) to remain a game ahead of the Cougars (9-3, 18-10). With the two losses, Mt Hood falls to third place at 6-4, 15-11.
The Cougars will hit the road to Salem on Saturday, April 19th to take on the Chemeketa Storm (4-6, 13-14). Chemeketa swept the Cougars in the South Region opener April 1st. Game time is 1pm.

Eugene, Ore. - Clackamas entered the contest at the top of the South with a 6-2 region record; the Lane Titans in fourth at 4-4.
Nate Reif took the mound in game one and pitched a five-hit, one run game up until the seventh inning when Kyle Burright came in relief. Reif's only blemish came in the second inning when Lane's Jody Potter homered to put the Titans up by one.
Lane upped the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the eighth on a fielding error, but Clackamas answered in the top of the ninth manufacturing two runs as AJ Christensen and Cam Childress scored to knot the contest at two all.
The Titans pulled off the 3-2 win in the bottom of the 10th off a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly. Jon Anderson took the loss for the Cougars.
Clackamas fell behind 1-0 in the second inning of game two, but the bats awoke in the next two innings as the Cougars picked up five runs in the third and fourth innings. With three men on base in the third, Sean Sprauer doubled to score Christensen, Ben Janal and Bryan Roby to put Clackamas up 3-1. Todd McBride also doubled in Chris Ferguson in the fourth, then scored himself off a wild pitch to make it a 5-1 contest.
Lane scored again in the seventh off an unearned run to make it a 5-2 seven-inning Cougar win. Starter Jeff Bjorklund picked up his fourth win of the season in a five-hit, eight strikeout performance.
In other South Region action, Mt Hood and Linn-Benton both won double headers. The Saints defeated Chemeketa 9-1, 3-2 and the Roadrunners beat SW Oregon 14-4, 9-0. Clackamas now stands at 7-3 in the South, a game behind Mt. Hood and Linn-Benton who are both 6-2.
The Cougars will next take the field for a double header against the Mt Hood Saints on the tax deadline, Tuesday, April 15th at Clackamas. Game one is scheduled to commence at 1pm.

Gresham, Ore - The Cougars (6-2, 15-9) are on fire in the South Region cruising to strong wins in their last six games.
Clackamas scored 13 runs on 22 hits in game one in a 13-10 Cougars win. as reliever Kyle Burright picked up his first win of the season. Ben Janal Todd McBride and Sean Sprauer all collected four hits in the contest.
The Cougars took game two 8-5. Russell Lende earned his fourth win of the season and now holds a 4-1 record.
Clackamas will travel to Eugene on Saturday April 12th to play a double-header against the Lane Titans (4-4, 16-10). The Cougars previously swept the Titans in a double-header at Clackamas April 3rd.

Coos Bay, Ore.~ Clackamas CC baseball took its league play to Southwestern Oregon CC yesterday where the Cougars swept the doubleheader 11-3 and 12-2. The wins improve Clackamas to 4-2 and a tie for second place with Lane in region play and 13-9 overall. Clackamas next faces region leading Mt. Hood CC (4-0, 13-7) for a double header on April 10th at 1pm in Gresham.
Game 1: A very tight 3-3 game until the 7th when the Cougars got rolling and blew the game open.

Ontario, Ore - The Cougars wrapped up non-league play this past weekend with a near win in the Treasure Valley Tournament championship game.
Clackamas took the first of five games with an 11-3 win over Olympic on Bryan Roby's five strikeouts through eight innings of work. Todd McBride snagged a pair of stolen bases and scored three runs while AJ Christensen went 3-4 at the plate. Ben Janal also went 50% at the plate and added another three runs for the Cougars.
Game two pitted the Cougars against East Region Treasure Valley. Both squads tore the cover off the ball tallying a total of 23 hits, but the Chukars came out on top of a 5-4 decision. Roby went two for three with a pair of doubles while McBride singled twice for two RBIs in the game.
Linn-Benton and Clackamas then battled in game three for nine innings, but had to settle for a 3-3 tie due to tournament time constraints.
In game four, the Cougars again faced Olympic and the squads traded runs until a 2-2 tie after nine led to extras innings. Nate Reif tossed a solid seven innings and Bill West had another two in the 8th and 9th, but the Rangers were able to manufacture three runs in the 10th to secure the win.
Clackamas then drew Treasure Valley in the Championship game. The two clubs again provided an exciting game and were knotted 8-8 after eight innings. The Chukars pulled out the win in bottom of the ninth to take 9-8 victory. Matt Brause had a good performance on the mound and Cougars Cameron Childress, Sean Spraurer and Guiseppe Baffaro all got two hits in the contest.
"It was a great weekend of growth for our players and team," commented Head Coach Robin Robinson. "We are a good club with good talent, and most games we have played very well. We are excited to start league play on Thursday and Saturday to see how we compare in the strong Southern Region.
The Cougars (9-7) open inner-region play this Thursday, March 27th against the Lane Ttitans (12-6) in a double header. Game one is scheduled for noon.
"Our pitching is good, with four starters that will compete very well, but we must follow them a little better," added Robinson. "We demonstrated this weekend that we can hit against good pitching - Our defense just needs to get a little tighter."

The Dalles, Ore. - The Cougars kicked off the season in the right direction with four wins against NWAACC competition. In Friday's action, Clackamas manufactured three runs in the top of the second and held off a late rally by Spokane to win 4-3. Nate Reif threw five innings and eight strikeouts to earn the win. Jon Anderson pitched two innings in relief, picking up three strikeouts.

In game two, the Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Tyler Waters drilled a triple scoring Bryan Roby and Cam Childress followed by a Sean Spraurer hit to score Waters. Clackamas collected a few more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cruise to a 6-1 victory. Jeff Bjorklund picked up the win on 4.6 innings pitched and Kyle Burright sealed the door shut on the Sasquatch the rest of the way.

In Sunday's double header, The Cougars drilled the Grays Harbor pitchers for seven runs on 10 hits. Jim Bray doubled and AJ Christensen tripled in a three-run fourth inning. The Cougars again lit the scoreboard in the sixth when Bray, Christensen and Chris Oki doubled scoring four more runs as the Clackamas won 7-4 despite committing eight errors. Bryan Roby collected the win on 6.3 innings pitched and Bill West kept the Chokers in check the rest of the way.

Grays Harbor made it a closer contest in the second game. The Chokers scored two in the top of the third to take a 2-0 lead, but Tyler Waters answered in the bottom of the inning with a two-run blast to knot the game a 2-2. The Cougars picked up a couple more in the fifth and sixth to take a 4-2 advantage. Grays Harbor threatened to tie in the top of the seventh, but only managed a single run as Clackamas won in a tight one 4-3. Russell Lende threw a seven-hit, five strike out complete game for the Cougars.
