Who We Are and What We Do

STUDENT GOVERNMENT

Tim Lussier,

President

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I serve as the President of our Student Government. In addition to leading the Student Government, I also am the liaison to the college administration. I attend the weekly President's Council meetings and work with college administrators. I also sit on the Board of Education as an ex-officio member and represent students there. Lastly, I serve on the Oregon Community College Student Association.

 

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This year will be my third and final year. My first year I served as Senator and Officer in Community Relations. Last year, I served as ASG President.  I'm on three year plan to get my transfer degree. I came to CCC because it was 1) Close 2) Cheap and 3) Convenient.

 

3. What are your plans after CCC?

I am going to apply to schools in Washington D.C., and also to University of Oregon. My goal is to attain a Business Degree and work in the home building / landscape construction field.

 

4. What is something interesting about you?

I have the talent of being able to wiggle my ears. I'm also passionately interested in politics and education. I love wakeboarding and playing indoor soccer.

Latisha Burley,

Administrative Assistant

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

Administrative Assistant

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my first year at CCC. I decided to attend here because the campus is close to home, many scholarship opportunities, and helpful staff.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

I plan to get my associates degree and then transfer to a private Christian liberal arts school to finish up my bachelors degree. If I end up liking school enough, I will go on to get my masters.

4. What is something interesting about you?

I love being around people, going on hikes, and anything that has to do with interior design!

 

Jessica Henricksen,

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I’m the Officer of the Grant Department.  In this department we do textbook grants, childcare grants, giving tree, holiday parties, and we are hoping to create a few other activities that will include families and students as well.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my 3rd year at CCC and I choose to be here because, when I started, I was unsure of what I wanted to be.  There are a large variety of classes to choose from and now I am here taking the Elementary Education classes that are offered here. 

3. What are your plans after CCC?

After CCC I am going to PSU and I will get my Bachelors in Child and Family Studies and then get into the Graduate Program for Education.

4. What is something interesting about you?

Something interesting about me is that I have a two-year old sister, 4-year old sister, 10-year old brother, 11-year old brother, 17-year old sister, and 19-year old brother.  I am the oldest of seven, including me.

 

Whitney Johnson,

Grant Department Officer

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

Grant Senator.  I help in the Grant Department which handle childcare and textbook grants.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

1st year! I wanted to go somewhere different and I really like the area.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

Not sure yet but I ultimately want to become a wedding planner!

4. What is something interesting about you?

Moved here from Mount Vernon, WA, 4 hours away!  In High School I was on the bowling team and a cheerleader!

 

Mitch Knudsen,

Public Affairs Officer

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I run and oversee Public Affairs, which involves all the awareness events (alcohol, cancer, smoking, etc).  I also do the Blood Drive, legislative stuff, and fundraising.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my second year at CCC.  I chose this school because it is cheaper than a University and it is close to home.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

I plan on getting my Medical Assistant (M.A.) Certificate next year.  Then after about 3 or 4 years as working as an M.A., I plan on coming back to CCC to get my nursing degree.

Michael Vu,

Campus Activities Officer

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I am the Public Affairs Senator and I’m in charge of keeping my Officer in-line. =) Actually, it’s the other way around, but our office is in charge of Awareness Days/Months like Political Awareness or Drug Awareness.  In addition, we plan and organize the Blood Drive and also some fundraisers.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my first year here at CCC, and I came here because I wanted a smoother transition between High School and College, and I like the campus and the services that are offered here.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

After CCC I will be attending a University for my Bachelor’s degree and then my Master’s degree but my major and the school I will transfer to are still pending.

4. What is something interesting about you?

You ever heard of Chris Brown?  I’m an inspiring dancer like he, but I have to admit it… I could hold my own against the likes of him and other talented artists on the dance floor.

 

Javierh Montero,

Clubs Senator

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

Senator for clubs.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

2 years.  I liked the programs and the way the campus looks; it has some pretty interesting things and cool places to just hang out!

3. What are your plans after CCC?

Go to OSU or to any other university.  Undecided about which university yet… but one that has a good Communications program.

4. What is something interesting about you?

I speak 3 languages, I like sports & I’m photogenic.

 

Kalynn Stearns,

Community Service Senator

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I am a senator of Community Service, which provides volunteer service opportunities as well as free clothing to students through the clothes closet.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my second year here at CCC.  I was drawn to the college because of the Advanced College Credit (ACC) opportunity in addition to the low tuition costs.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

I’m planning on transferring to OSU next fall for interior design.

4. What is something interesting about you?

I love going to rodeos and riding horses.

 

Ted Johnson,

Senator at Large

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

Senator at Large

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

3 years, close to home, great campus, great community

3. What are your plans after CCC?

I’m going to become an accomplished writer, I already have a fantasy series 4-5 books strong, and I want to get a job teaching here at CCC

4. What is something interesting about you?

I am fully prepared for any coming zombie apocalypse.

STUDENT AMBASSADORS

 

Nancy Baltazaar,

ESL Student Ambassador

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I’m the ESL Student Ambassador.  I have two events that I host; The ESL Meet and Greet and the ESL Open House.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my third year at CCC and in Student Leadership.  I choose CCC because it’s a great way to start and save money.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

After CCC my plan is to transfer to U of O where I plan to major in International Business and Marketing.

4. What is something interesting about you?

I love photography and learning new languages.  My plan is to learn Italian and Japenese.

 

Eunice Perez,

High School Relations Ambassador

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I am an Ambassador.  My role is High School Relations.  I visit High Schools and try to recruit students for CCC.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my second year at CCC and second year in student leadership.  I choose CCC because of the awesome programs offered and it was close to home and very cheap.  I also like the small class sizes.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

I plan to attend either PSU or Academy of Art University in California to major in Marketing.

4. What is something interesting about you?

I love playing soccer and meeting new people.  I’m very social!

 

Felisha Borg,

Event Coordinator Ambassador

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

Event Coordinator Ambassador

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

2 years, I loved the atmosphere and people on this campus.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

Transfer to PSU to get teaching liscence.

4. What is something interesting about you?

I love to work with children.  I’m currently working at the Oak Grove Learning Tree Preschool.

 

Useni Makano,

Tour Coordinator Ambassador

1. What is your role in Student Leadership?

I am the Tour Coordinator.

2. How long have you been involved at CCC and what helped you to choose this school?

This is my third year at CCC.

3. What are your plans after CCC?

I’ll be attending Portland State in the Fall of 2008.

4. What is something interesting about you?

I love playing soccer and I’m African.
