Disability Non-discrimination Policy

Clackamas Community College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, national origin, disability, family relationship or any other protected status in accordance with applicable law.

The college’s commitment to non-discrimination applies to curricular activity and all aspects of operation of the college.

Clackamas Community College is specifically dedicated to providing a harassment free environment for all people with disabilities, as well as a timely and effective provision of services for students with disabilities. To this end the following procedures are designed to serve any members of the community who experience any form of discrimination and lack of appropriate services.

Grievance Procedure

Any student with disabilities who feels that they have been discriminated against or harassed due to their disability should contact the Director of the Disability Resource Center and report the event.

The Director will assist the student in using the college Problem Resolution Procedure as outlined in the Student Handbook.

If this procedure does not resolve the issue to the students satisfaction the Director will assist the student in moving through the formal procedure for complaints as also outlined in the student handbook.

Any student with disabilities who feels that they are not receiving the services they are due by law should address their concerns to the Director of the Disability Resource Center. If that is uncomfortable or the response they receive is not acceptable they should address their concern to the Dean of Student Services.

Each of the above will review the complaint within 5 working days and report back to the student their findings and work to find a resolution of the complaint which is acceptable to the student.

The student may appeal any decision of the Dean to the office of Student Services. The Dean will investigate the appeal and within 10 working days host a meeting of the parties involved facilitating resolution of the complaint.

The Dean will notify the student and the Director of Disability Services of the resolution of the complaint within 10 days of this meeting. The Dean shall have the final decision regarding resolution of the complaint.

Note: Any student with disabilities free at any time to submit a complaint to the Office for Civil Rights.
